Product Review – Sorel Women’s Alpha Pac

So excited to find a warm boot for winter. I was hesitant to buy Sorel’s as a friend of mine had two pairs that fell apart last year after almost no use, but another friend who has had hers for 12 years convinced me. These boots are rated for -60 degree temps, but am not sure they would stand up to that. They will work for below freezing temps hopefully and have so far kept my toes toasty down into temperatures in the teens. They have a felt insole (critical for any boot claiming ratings below zero). The rubber shell makes them a bit heavy, but they keep out the slushy snow and keep your feet dry.

The sizes run large – I’m a 6.5 and ordered a 7 and was able to add an extra sheepskin insole for added warmth with plenty of room for thick socks as well. The only downside is you need to take the lining out to air dry it if your feet sweat, as the boots are made to keep water out, they also keep sweat in, making them less capable of providing warmth when they are wet. I take them out in the evenings and let them dry overnight. They take a little work to get the insoles back in, but for warm toes, it’s worth it.
