Product Review – Marmot Women’s Strato Jacket

The Marmot Woman’s Strato Jacket rain jacket saved my life. I have worn it in snow storms over a fleece and down, in rainstorms where my friend got soaked and in light sprinkles. Not only does it keep the rain out, it also blocks the wind helping keep warmth in. The hood is adjustable and since I have a small head, I really appreciate it. I most often put the hood up over a hat for added brim support and warmth for my head, although the brim works well on its own. The cuffs were a big selling feature for me. Instead of elastic cuffs, these ones have adjustable Velcro tabs on the outside and on the inside there is a soft fleece liner around the wrist. The design of the sleeves edges down over the hand. Whereas other jackets make your hands feel cold, the elastic cutting off a tiny part of much needed circulation, these help promote warmth to your hands.

The armpit zippers help you cool off on warmer days. The jacket offers great breathability so condensation doesn’t build up on the inside. I bought a size larger than I needed to make sure I had extra room for a lot of layers underneath. This is not a GoreTex jacket, meaning in five to ten years the waterproof factor may decrease or wear away. Also be sure to keep insect repellent away from this jacket as it can eat away the waterproof finish.
