I first found out about this company when they emailed me asking to link to my website Alternative-Lawncare.com. I was immediately impressed by their business. I am anti-pesticides. • Labeling for chemical fertilizers lacks full disclosure. Fertilizer labeling laws only require beneficial nutrients (i.e. Nitrogen, Potassium, Zinc, Phosphate) to be listed.
• Nearby plants absorb toxic chemicals. Vegetable gardens next to treated lawns are susceptible to absorbing toxic substances.
• Chemical fertilizers create water pollution. They contain soluble nitrogen and phosphorous which cause eutrophication/algae bloom such as the 7,000 square mile ‘dead zone’ in the Gulf of Mexico. Chemicals leach into runoff polluting lakes, ponds, rivers, estuaries and groundwater. Forty percent of the nation’s waterways are too polluted for swimming. The EPA reports that metals such as those found in chemical fertilizers are the second most common pollutants in waterways.
